The Future of Live Streaming Technology

Where is the Online Video Industry Heading?

Live streaming has evolved from a niche hobby into a multi-billion dollar global industry. From social media broadcasts to professional esports tournaments, millions of hours of live content are consumed daily. As technology advances, web playback is changing rapidly to meet higher consumer demands.

Low Latency is the New Priority

Traditional HLS streaming usually has a delay of 15 to 30 seconds behind the actual live event. In sports broadcasting or live auctions, this delay is highly problematic. To counter this, developers are shifting towards Low-Latency HLS (LL-HLS) and WebRTC protocols, reducing the delay to under two seconds.

4K and 8K Streaming

With the rise of faster internet networks like 5G and high-speed fiber broadband, streaming in ultra-high-definition (UHD) is becoming normal. Video players must now be highly optimized to decode heavier data streams efficiently without draining mobile device batteries.
